New “History” menu button

Hello everyone,

since the beginning, me and other posters have written a number of historical articles on various topics. Some, who’d otherwise be interested might have actually missed some of those, that’s why I added a new “History” button on the upper menu. By clicking on it, you’ll see a list of articles, sorted by nations.

I hope that it helps those, who are interested in the articles, to find what they were looking for and perhaps even the others to find the topics they want to know about.

Steel from the Rhine – Rheinmetall minibranch

Hello everyone,

today’s article will be about certain Rheinmetall prototypes and their ability to actually make a minibranch. Is it even possible? Rheinmetall was not THAT active, when it comes to tank design, certainly not as much as Krupp, Henschel, Porsche or MAN, but early (before the war), they produced a number of interesting things. But first, a little history.

13.8.2013

- there will be no Belarussian or Ukrainian language mutation (“for each extra language, a patch will come 1 day later”)
- it’s not yet decided, whether you will be able to “see” Havok events, that happen outside your field of view (SS: as in, for example, a tank gets shot and some box mounted on the outside flies off under client physics, it’s possible this information won’t be transferred if it happens outside of your field of view, so in your case, the tank will still have the box, despite on his computer, it got torn off)
- Israeli branch won’t come for now

Just a few tidbits. You can read the whole article, but from practical information point of view:

- Microsoft needed convincing about F2P principle for consoles
- he sees F2P on consoles as “the beginning of new era”
- XboX WoT won’t be totally F2P, as players have to pay Microsoft the Live Gold 5 USD per month subscription
- average player spends 3 hours per day in WoT
- global average monthly payment per user is 7 USD
- the Japanese players spend the most, followed USA and China

Spiegel Online notices the “Stalin issue”

Source: Spiegel website

Hello everyone,

those of FTR readers, who hail from Germany will definitely know Der Spiegel – one of the major German newspapers/magazines. Well, it looks like this magazine noticed the Stalin issue on the forums. It’s take on the whole matter is a bit different. For those, who don’t speak German, the articles says (not a totally correct translation, Im bit in a hurry atm, feel free to correct me):

Competition winner!

Okay, this was impressive. We have a winner so soon – to be quite honest, I did not expect it so fast :)

I recieved roughly 70 answers, most were “T-34-T” (which was incorrect). The correct answer was: PCHT-34 (chemical recon tank of the Czechoslovak army). This vehicle was misidentified as T-34-T by the Osprey Vanguard T-34/85 publication and from there, it has spread further.

The winner is: Mikhail800

Honestly, I am impressed. The article describing the error and the picture are not tied together. One more correct answer arrived till then.

Mikhail will be getting his prize soon…

but…

It will be harder next time :)
