following three videos appeared on the English Wargaming Youtube channel – in case you are still interested in hearing more about the movie “Fury” (and are not totally fed up with the hype the way I am), here’s something for you – a three-part interview with the Fury director and some of the cast. Enjoy.
In this part, we’ll take a look at how could the low tier Hungarian tank destroyers, such as the Nimród, the Toldi tank destroyer and the Zrínyi be implemented into WoT. Everything is the same as in previous articles: I will try not to predict game parameters (health points or alpha damage) and the balance parameters (radiorange, RoF, etc.) would not necessarely be implemented as I listed them below.
Please note that these are only the historical characteristics, the would be implemented tanks could get unhistorical stuff as a last resort, if the game balance requires it.
Nimród – Tier II
Possible vehicle description: Self-propelled anti-air and anti-tank autocannon, based on the Swedish Landsverk L-62. In total, 135 36/40M. Nimród vehicles were manufactured between 1940-1941 by the MÁVAG factory. At the early stage of the Second World War, these vehicles were used in anti-tank role as well, not just as mobile anti-air support units. However, after 1942, because of their insufficient firepower against the newer Soviet medium tanks, the Nimróds were moved from the Armored Corps to the Anti-Air Battalion and rarely fought against ground targets from that point onward.
If you are interested in ships, check out this very interesting article about the story of one Soviet cruiser and “big gun” ships in general.
- Q: “Are you aware of the number of players reporting “no damage” penetrations?” A (SerB): “We are aware four years already that a part of the players consists of whiners, posting permanently all kinds of crap in this forum topic.”
- while you don’t get damaged from collisions with objects, you can actually get damaged by the environment, if you drive from a certain slope too fast and crash. In such cases, the damage is not determined by the height difference between the starting slope point and the ending point (SS: eg. “what distance you cover by going downhill”), but by your vertical velocity
recently, a WoT Blitz stream took place on Russian server. Here’s what was said in it (related to Blitz, not classic WoT):
- the recent tests went really fine, resulting in significant FPS increase
- Android version is ready to be taken to next stage of testing, release is planned until the end of the year
- iOS version will have better graphics
- minimum version of Android to run Blitz will be version 4.+
- there will be a second round of Android testing
- there will not be separate servers for Android and iOS
- camouflage and perks will come next year
according to yet unconfirmed news, Wargaming is preparing a new map, called Simferopol (a mediterranean-style map, the way South Coast is allegedly). Unfortunately, there are no details about that yet, but it seems to be true.
What is odd is not really the fact a new map is coming up, but the fact that they would name a new map based on a city in… you guessed it, Crimea. Very subtle, totally not asking for “feedback” from Ukraine. Of course, it would actually be the second Crimean map in the game (South Coast was originally called Crimea, but that was before the nasty business with Russia). Ah well, I’ll post when I have more news about the matter.
The British A12 Matilda is a popular tank, because it has decent armour and a good gun. It is however slow and an easy target and really plays more like a heavy in my opinion more than as a medium. It already exists in game as the British Tier IV Medium, Tier 5 Matilda ‘Black Prince’ (not the correct name but anyway) and as a Russian Tier V Medium too. So, why not have some love for the Commonwealth? Specifically Australia, who received 409 Matildas starting March 1943 and some remained in service in Australia as late as 1955.
The most famous Australian Matilda versions are the Bulldozer, Frog (flamethrower) and Hedgehog (multiple mortar firing) versions.

So why would it be any different to the regular A12?
On Russian server, for October, 18101 players were allegedly punished based on the report system, 3748 participants in rigged battles were punished as well and 2882 botters were banned. That’s a nice “harvest” for October.
- apparently, Lowe armor is fine (won’t be buffed)
- by the end of third campaign, M60, VK7201 and Object 907 will not be ready in HD
- the HD model for IS-3 will be IS-3 Model 1945, not the modernized version (IS-3M)
- developers are working on new engine sounds
- after the ramming changes of 9.4, the cases where tanks just bump to one another and one of them rapidly loses 1 hitpoint should be considerably less common
- the exact ramming damage mechanism will not be disclosed
- armor deformation (holes from ramming) will not come anytime soon
- the option to pick your setup for team battle based on the map you get is planned, no ETA currently
- it cannot be generally said that in the new 9.4 ramming system ramming damage will increase – what will increase is the difference between damage done by ramming heavily armored and lightly armored spots
- the influence of tank weight on ramming in 9.4 will not change, the same goes for spaced armor
- when it comes to team damage punishment in collisions, the tank that goes faster is guilty
