Jagdpanzer 38(t) in Foreign Service

Hello everyone,

the Jagdpanzer 38(t), (incorrectly) known as the “Hetzer”, was one of the few late-war vehicles, supplied to Germany’s allies. However, due to its late introduction, this tank destroyer was actually officially supplied to only one foreign ally of Germany: Hungary. The reason for Germans allowing the export was that Hungarian industry was unable to produce this type of vehicles (a tank destroyer) in sufficient numbers, although there were attemtps to arm the Honvéd (Hungarian army) with an indigenous version of the Sturmgeschütz (Zrínyi self-propelled guns).

24.2.2014

Again, not much today…

- Storm confirms that the Stalingrad map leak is legit
- he doesn’t know whether there will be a statue of Lenin on the Stalingrad square
- 0.9.0: “when it’s done it’s done”
- in 0.9.0, there will be an ingame FOV setting
- apparently there was a bug in the VK4502 (the rear turret one) where crew got killed too easily, it was fixed

Straight outta Supertest: Lost City map

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3072350.html

According to the post linked above, this map schematic in game resources is designated “95_Lost_City”. A direct quote of the person, who leaked it: “Absolutely symmetrical map” – it was apparently tested for 7/42 battles, everything was fine – and for 15vs15 as well.

Beware: Teamkilling a Platoonmember punishable by ban

Hello everyone,

this might be “old news” for somebody, but I think it’s better to make sure everyone know. Recently (and I am not sure this change came in 8.11, but I think so), teamkilling a member of your platoon is punishable by ban the same way it is punished when you teamkill any other player in random battles. The official reason behind this decision is an attempt to try to eliminate “troll” platoons, where three platoonmembers (especially on high tiers) could kill one another without punishment, screwing the rest of the team in the process.

You can see a guy rage on this video (thanks to WinG_HU for linking it to me) after being banned for 3 months (!) for teamdamaging a platoonmember of his (apparently, the fact they were in the cap circle played a role)

EDIT: Yes, I know that the guy from the video did teamkill before and just returned from a month-long ban, so the 3 month ban is justified.

152mm ShK, Czechoslovak potential tier 10 TD

Hello everyone,

about a year ago, I was writing the series about potential Czechoslovak tree, I noticed (first from Tuccy’s work, then after reading up stuff on my own) that Czechoslovak tree would have a serious problem with hightier tank destroyers and heavies. The result was, in the early proposal, I did cut off the TD branch at tier 6 or so and did let it be.

But, would it be possible to prolong the Czechoslovak TD branch to tier 10, contrary to what I thought earlier? Well, I think so. Here’s how I think the tier 10 vehicle would look.

TVP-ST1

A little bit of history first. From 18.11.1948 to 20.11.1948, a meeting was held at the Škoda facilities, where the Czechoslovak army representatives requested new designs for self-propelled guns, both as tank destroyers and as artillery vehicles. The result was the decision to develop two platforms for the SPG’s (for a tank destroyer, SPG and AA role): the LP platform (light, based on the T-17 light tank Škoda design) and the TVP platform (for medium and heavy vehicles).

Nerf My Tank! Vickers Mk. E Type B

In the previous “Nerf My Tank”, I discovered the horrible truth about Russian Bias in World of Tanks. Today, we will learn about the slightly less horrible secret of Chinese Bias.

A compendium of what was probably sales pamphlets from 1932 lists the penetration of a number of AT/AA guns that never went anywhere and that we do not care about, aside from one: the 47 mm Vickers gun. Here is how this gun is represented in the game.

vickers

45 mm of penetration at 100 meters? A pretty good number for a gun from the late 1920s. Let’s see if these numbers correspond to reality.

Sadly, the penetration for 100 meters is not listed, but it is estimated from the existing data easily enough. Penetration drops by about 4 mm per 200 meters (less at later ranges, but then again, the decrease isn’t linear). With 30 mm at 300 meters, the penetration is about 34 mm at 100 meters. But wait, what is this, in the game it’s 45 mm, or a whole third higher! Scandalous!

Russian and Chinese bias confirmed, ready your torches and pitchforks!

WoT Wiki coming soon… hopefully.

Hello everyone,

just a quick piece of information: we all probably know the WoT Wiki, one of the first sources of WoT info there was. I know I was looking there, I still do in fact (well, at least for some info anyway). You might have also noticed that it was locked for several months now (since 8.8 or 8.9). The reason for that apparently was an overhaul. Recently, a Russian wiki author sort of “leaked” that WoT Wiki should return soon and that currently, two graphic variants are being worked on. Here they are.
