FTR Golden Donkey mock-a-thon

Hello everyone,

tired of the Golden Joystick hype? Of WG EU community shoving it down your throat?

donk1

Well, here’s a competition just for you then :) You see, thanks to generous donation of player Takato, I have here two bonus codes for 7 day prem + 1000g (Gamescom codes – please note this code will NOT work if you redeemed one code of the same type already).

Your task is simple: create a picture (I don’t care what size, if it’s a poster or an avatar) mocking Wargaming and Golden Joystick competition. Its motives can include (but are not limited to) a Donkey, Stalin, WG cheating the competition with bot votes, SerB – or anything else you can think of.

One abovementioned code will go to the funniest picture, the second will go to a randomly selected participant :) The results will be published. There are no serious rules, but stay within at least basic decency limits (can’t publish it if there’s a huge donkey dick across the whole picture for example).

Important: Send your submission to this address:

competitionftr@centrum.cz

You have until Sunday (competition ends on 6.10.2013, 23:59 CEST). Don’t forget to write your nickname!

WG fail: different specials

Hello everyone,

once again, Wargaming EU (or possibly NA?) fails with the special weekend events. You know, I wouldn’t even notice or care about that that, were it not for Ectar and his big proclamations on how the US and EU weekend specials would be the same.

This weekend Sputnik Special:

European version:

fail2

American version:

fail1

No 50 percent premium discounts for you, Europeans! As for the Americans having the “Earning your Steel” mission extra – that’s alright, that event was apparently shifted by one week forward for US server. Apparently, WG is “looking into it“.

In any case, the point of this fail is not to show WG can’t synchronize events, the point is “don’t make loud proclamations and then screw it up”.

Sputnik? What the hell?

Hello everyone,

so, uh, I checked the special event for the weekend and one thing really hit me: Sputnik? What the hell? What does Sputnik satellite have to do with tanks? Who makes up this stuff?

Anyway, so I guess there is nothing to “celebrate” (or – more like – remember) this weekend? Oh, wait, that’s right. On Sunday, it’s the 40th anniversary of the beginning of one of the most destructive conflicts after World War 2, the Yom Kippur War!

Yea, the biggest armor clashes since Kursk, including one of the most famous tank warfare events in history (Zvika Greengold’s one-tank rampage, fully comparable to the legendary Villers Bocage action of Michael Wittman) are surely totally insignificant compared to fucking Sputnik.

Anyway, so I checked the October calendar again. You know, there was this thought in my mind: last year, WG remembered German Unification and Polish Independence, so uhhhh… where is the Czechoslovak Independence Day, celebrated on 28.10.? With Czechoslovak community being 3rd largest in WoT EU and Czechoslovakia being World’s biggest arms (including armor) exporter in early 30′s, I kinda thought they’d remember. Or Hungarian, French, Italian and other events? Is it such a problem to actually include such events instead of a fucking Sputnik? It’s not like WG doesn’t have time to prepare such stuff in advance.

Anyway, rant over. This weekend I think I’ll write a special on Yom Kippur.

8.9 new map – North-West

New map (North-West) – official WG description:

This rustic, rural location may have been a peaceful, agricultural haven at one time, but these days, it is only host to hostile machinery. Northwest features a scenic, pastoral setting marked by farm equipment and open fields.

This map provides a good variety of high and low hotspots, as well as plenty of camouflage opportunities, as the map is peppered with trees. Don’t get too distracted by the scenery, because getting caught in the open on Northwest is a recipe for destruction.

- the situation when a teammate runs into your shot (that is already flying) will still count as teamdamage, won’t be changed
- SerB states that the assumption premium tanks should have lower average winrate than regular tanks of the same class is correct
- SerB considers too high winrate for premium tanks a problem: “We don’t sell pwnage for money”

FTR on FB and more

Hello everyone,

in last month, there was a huge influx of readers for FTR, on some days in truly unexpected numbers. I’d like to thank you all for your continued support!

For those who are new here: there is a For the Record Facebook page, where I am posting less important info, quick updates and other stuff, so the blog itself is not spammed too much. If you want the quickest updates on everything or are simply wondering “what’s taking so long today”, chances are the answer is there.

As always, I’d like to thank everyone who switched their Adblock off for this page, you guys keep the page going, literally. If you haven’t switched the Adblock yet, well – that’s up to you of course, I won’t urge you to change this. But it helps me.

And of course, if someone doesn’t want to bother with Adblock, but would like to contribute either way, the Paypal Donate button is in the upper right corner :)

Seriously though, all support (even words) is greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone!
