Q&A for EU/US

Update: A lot of you haven’t even bothered to read the post and I don’t have time to sift thru garbage. Closed the comments, will think on what to do with it further.

Hello everyone,

okay, I must admit I’ve been thinking about this for a very, very long time. Why isn’t there a real Q&A thread for EU/US people, apart from that thing Quasar posts, which is slow, clumsy and has wrong answers on occasion.

Well, long story short, what we can try (for now, as an experiment):

You will be able to ask your questions for developers under this post. I will pick SEVEN (I will let you know which), will translate it to Russian and then, Edrard (who has enough battles on RU server) will post what I write in SerB’s thread. And you’ll get your answers from SerB and Storm directly.

WG seeks WoWs alpha-testers

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/2728397.html

A post on Russian forums announces that Wargaming is looking for alpha testers for World of Warships.

Apparently, only Russian forum members (or rather, Russians – or at least people who speak Russian) are to post their application in any form into the abovelinked thread. What criteria are considered for an alpha-tester, in order of importance:

- World of Warships forum activity (at least 250 good posts, no spamming)
- WoT and WoWp alpha test veterans do get a priority
- experience in alphatesting other games
- being a professional tester, or an IT specialist
- proactivity and decency

What has NO effect on the application:

- amount of battles in WoT and WoWp
- winrate
- age
- country
- city

So I guess even the foreigners can apply, as long as they speak Russian? The demand of speaking Russian is not mentioned anywhere, I concluded it since this appeared on RU forums, might be wrong.

FredTMK’s 8.9 review

Hello everyone,

okay, here’s the thing. Remember that T-34-3 video I posted by FredTMK? Well, it didn’t gather too good feedback (in fact, quite the opposit) and I took it down as a result. But, since I do believe Fred has some potential, I decided to cooperate with him on the 8.9 patch review, mostly by checking his scenario and the video content.

Wargaming going all-out in Asia

Hello everyone,

it seems that Wargaming is going all-out in Asia. After all, it’s a big market. On Korean portal (translation courtesy of Daigensui), we can read that WoWP is one of the games to be played for the “ROKFA Chief of Staff Air Warfare Simulation Contest”. Strangely enough, they translate this via World of Tanks Korean portal, but I suppose it’s a huge success.

WG EU: more portal fails

Hello everyone,

remember how I wrote that WG EU Czech WoT portal is a disaster? You thought I was discriminating and bashing Czechoslovak crew? Don’t worry, I am not discriminating anyone: the English crew is just as incompetent.

Let’s have a look at the at the Alpha Force special. At first, we have wrong icons:

alpha2

Well, that got fixed, but what have we here? For some strange reason, the English neews seem to be translated from Polish or something, this is a second case in two weeks when there was a Polish text in the English post.

Potential Hull Upgrades: Light tanks

In the RU forums Q&A thread, SerB gave an example of a hull upgrade for the T-54: 120 mm of front armour, or 100 mm, with higher top speed in return. I will take a look at what other upgrades potentially exist for Soviet tanks in-game. Since there is a great deal of them, the article will be split into parts. This part will discuss light tanks.

Let’s start from the top, the venerable MS-1. The tank was in service with the Red Army until the start of WWII, and was modernized several times. However, it did not undergo very notable hull changes, aside from a change between welded and bolted armour in 1930. Despite being a significant change in real life, it would only be cosmetic in game. Other visually interesting changes result from the MS-1a hull (T-26 suspension, simplified rear section of the hull) and T-18M (elements of the T-38′s suspension).

alt-hulls-1

MS-1a: MS-1 with elements of the T-26 suspension.

alt-hulls-2

T-18M: MS-1 with T-38 suspension elements and simplified rear hull.
