3.11.2014

Hello everyone,

patch 9.4 is coming out on RU server today (in the night) or early tomorrow , so we can expect EU patch this week as well, likely on Wednesday.

- Q: “Why is Wargaming against introducing new matchmaker?” (SS: I think the player means skill MM, unclear) A (SerB): “There were already two ‘new matchmakers’. How many more there will be is not known for now. But they will not be designed by players.”
- SU-122-44 will not get preferential MM
- Storm apparently liked the Fury movie
- Storm states that the tank textures will not be in the future in such a resolution as from 9.0 onwards (HD models), but the resolution will be higher than pre-9.0
- according to Storm, the HD models from 9.2 onwards are of higher quality than the War Thunder ones
- Storm, when asked, where exactly is the “sufficient armor” of the Lowe: “Gun mantlet.”

9.4 WG Preview

Hello everyone,

from the official RU Youtube channel, the preview for 9.4, for now only in Russian.

Inside:

- new team battles (changed the format to 7/54 (5xT8 and 2xT7 or 6xT8 and 1xT6), the attack/defense mode (the defender has to protect two bases instead of one, capturing both bases does not sum up, both bases are capped separately, can be capped at the same time, it’s enough to cap one base))
- new Stronghold options (can be unlocked up to tier 5, there will be a special video about that)
- Stalingrad map (destroyed wartime city)
- buff of T-34-3 (14,4s to 13,4s reload, reduced (buffed) the accuracy loss when turning the turret by 25 percent) and AT-15A (hitpoints buff to 1050, reduced MM)

And that’s all.

AMX-13 – Possibly Upcoming Armor Changes

Hello everyone,

yesterday, as you probably noticed, a new premium French vehicle (AMX-13/57) was leaked. It’s basically the same old AMX-13, only equipped with a very long AMX-13/57 cannon. There is actually very little information about the gun and the vehicle itself and it’s reasonable to assume that Wargaming simply “guessed” the gun values – the same, however, cannot be said about the AMX-13 armor.

With the introduction of the HD AMX-13/57 model, we can have a first look at how the AMX-13 armor will change in the game, when both the AMX-13/75 and the AMX-13/90 get reworked to HD. This is not just a speculation, as even though the AMX-13/57 hull is the early variant, the armor schematics for the later hulls are the same and thus, it’s reasonable to assume the armor of the AMX-13 tanks will be reworked to resemble the AMX-13/57 in HD. The turret might differ, there I am not quite sure.

Object 777 – Soviet Heavy Tank

Hello everyone,

today, we are going to have a detailed look at the Soviet heavy tank, Object 777.

777

In the first half of the 50′s, Soviet tank design bureaus were working on creating a new generation of heavy tanks, the best known of which would later become the T-10 (IS-8). There were however other projects as well – better and more powerful. The boom of the heavy tank design in the early 50′s was heavily influenced by the fact, that (according to Soviet data, anyway) the Americans were building armored vehicles en masse and were preparing new very powerful projects of both medium and heavy tanks (here, the Soviet sources list the “T43 heavy tank” as “matching the T-10 in power”).

7773

The first proposals for the new tank were sent to the Ministry of Transport and Heavy Machinery in June 1953, describing project variants of several heavy tanks, weighing from 46 to 50 tons. During the drawing creation, these recieved the designation of Object 752 and Object 777 (the latter being the object of this article). These drawings included more powerful guns (the 122mm M62-T2 for example), new hull and turret designs, as well as suspension (using hydraulics or individual torsion bars).

About Mikhail Svirin’s Event

Hello everyone,

do you know the name of Mikhail Svirin? No? Perhaps you should. He was one of the most important Russian armor historians, writing many books as well as articles on (not only) Soviet vehicles. He passed away this year unfortunately. To celebrate his legacy, Wargaming (RU) decided to name an event after him, since SerB admitted that Svirin’s work was instrumental to the creation of World of Tanks, as early on, Wargaming was taking a lot of data from his books. In his last years, Mikhail Svirin stopped writing and instead worked with young people, teaching them history and patriotism.

Of course, not everyone at Wargaming thinks well of Svirin and of the huge amount of work he made, take for example Yuri Pasholok’s quote (source):

About Svirin. After almost 3 years of “deep drilling” in Central Defence Ministry archive i have only two words about this man – story teller. Svirin’s tales and real documents – it’s two big differences. I don’t know what drugs he use when he made books like “Tankovaya Moshch”. He is shame of russian WWII AFV historians.

In any case, that got me thinking… on December 30th, 2012, Mr. Thomas Jentz passed away, soon it will be two years. Thomas Jentz, along with Hilary Doyle, was responsible for possibly the best source for German tanks there is, the legendary Panzer Tracts. I do think Wargaming (EU anyway) should honor his legacy as well (plus, I wouldn’t mind some German discounts :)), just as WG RU honors the legacy of M.Svirin. Mr.Jentz definitely deserves at least an article. Well… just a thought anyway.

2.11.2014

Apparently, a news appeared that in 9.5, Himmelsdorf will be removed, along with a screenshot of alleged Storm’s post. It’s a fake, Himmelsdorf will not be removed.

- Vickers MBT has its own branch planned. AC Sentinels are dealt with separately.
- FV4004 hull will have “regular Centurion armor”
- it’s not yet sure whether FV4005 will have 360 degrees turret traverse

Hungarian Branch in WoT – Part 5: Tier 2-4 tank destroyers

Author: Karika

Part I
Part II: Light tanks
Part III: Turán medium tanks
Part IV: Tas medium tank

Kp92DXT1

In this part, we’ll take a look at how could the low tier Hungarian tank destroyers, such as the Nimród, the Toldi tank destroyer and the Zrínyi be implemented into WoT. Everything is the same as in previous articles: I will try not to predict game parameters (health points or alpha damage) and the balance parameters (radiorange, RoF, etc.) would not necessarely be implemented as I listed them below.

Please note that these are only the historical characteristics, the would be implemented tanks could get unhistorical stuff as a last resort, if the game balance requires it.

Nimród – Tier II

0Rb2iAF

Possible vehicle description:
Self-propelled anti-air and anti-tank autocannon, based on the Swedish Landsverk L-62. In total, 135 36/40M. Nimród vehicles were manufactured between 1940-1941 by the MÁVAG factory. At the early stage of the Second World War, these vehicles were used in anti-tank role as well, not just as mobile anti-air support units. However, after 1942, because of their insufficient firepower against the newer Soviet medium tanks, the Nimróds were moved from the Armored Corps to the Anti-Air Battalion and rarely fought against ground targets from that point onward.
