Hall of Shame aftermath – I’m gonna get sued!

Hello everyone,

sometimes, it just gets better AFTER the post is already published. Yesterday, in Hall of Shame, I published the rage of the following moron:

Obrazek

(“Die slowly and in pain fucking Polish”)

And guess what I found today in my EU account (Erenjager) mailbox:

untitled

“Hello, I am requesting you to pull down my name from your post, where you slander me. I do not wish you to publish anything without my consent. If you don’t do it, I will be forced to take legal steps and bring it in front of a court, I also don’t wish to become a target of further mockery by publishing this message. In case you don’t know what I am talking about, here -> *link to Hall of Shame*. I thank you in advance for your compliance. With kind regards, sranda27″

For such a letter there is but one answer:

How terrible…

Hall of Shame

Hello everyone,

welcome to this year’s last Hall of Shame, where worst morons and trolls are publicly shamed. I was looking for new info on WoT, but there is literally nothing new today, so I decided to clean up by “Hall of Shame” folder. And this time, there are PLENTY of candidates. I also have two bonuses for you: first is my personal archive of ragers, second is from one BIA player, who submitted the rages and rants (partially in Czech). Let’s start with something light, some very angry Germans:

About the new method of evaluating tank performance

Hello everyone,

this post will be a bit complicated, so bear with me. Basically, a couple of Russian players came up with a new method of measuring whether a tank is overpowered or not (or even underpowered) than classic winrate with some sort of threshold. In the beginning, there was the post by Makkad. This player (LJ) referred to the recent Storm statement that T57 Heavy dropped significantly in winrate and thus doesn’t need to be nerfed. Makkad points out that it practically took a year of being OP to drop to reasonable levels:

3945592

A year to discover whether a tank is OP or not based on balance alone is of course too long a period. What is needed is an indicator, that would show the tank OP factor directly after two or three weeeks. In the following part of the post, Makkad proves the fact that such an indicator can indeed exist.

What made me giggle…

So, I was just lurking the EU forums to troll and cause trouble looking for interesting info and ran across this Polish thread. In it, there was a Polish translation of today’s article with the Veider interview from one Polish blog, that is translating FTR stuff (how well, that is not for me to judge, but I prefer Dom1n, who has done a great job so far and in fact I look up his blog for info from time to time).

Well, no problem so far, but considering the blog is practically a 1:1 copy of FTR news in Polish, one thing made me giggle – the one and only comment under this post on his blog:

jasy

Translated (Google helped):

Hi :)
Many thanks for the information “in a nutshell”. Professionally presented news about the latest updates to World of Tanks :)
Fantastic blog! :)
Yours.

Thanks, mate, much appreciated :D

How discounts are calculated on EU server

Hello everyone,

in this post, I will be referring to the earlier post today about the E-25 discount. If you haven’t, please go read it first, so you know what I am talking about.

Can we continue then? Good.

So, I was wondering about the 24 percent and I asked in the Czechoslovak section – and Dargnon (Czech community organizer) replied, explaining (or, rather defending) the principle (if you understand Czech, you can read it in original there).

It works like this:

WG EU takes the EUR to gold ratio from the price of the 2500g package, which seems pretty arbitrary to me. The logic is as follows:

The E-25 is 30 percent off. That’s 6700 – 30 percent = 4690 gold
The slot is 50 percent off (Christmas event), that’s 150 gold
Together it’s 4840 gold

On EU server (for EU residents), you get 2500 gold for 9,95 EUR, which gives you 251,2 gold for 1 EUR.
4840/251,2 = cca 19,2 EUR, which is 76 percent of the original E-25 price in EUR (25,4). Hence the 24 percent discount.

Am I the only one who thinks that the decision to use the gold-per-euro ration from the 2500g packet is just odd?

Check out the new World of Warplanes patch on Overlord’s blog

- apparently, all tiers will have access to all maps in random in WoWp
- apparently the smooth zoom transition in 8.10 is working fine according to SerB
- neither water nor any type of terrain (on which the shell lands) influences the HE shell splash
- Q: “I’d like you to explain why my arty gets too little XP. Please.” A: “How terrible. You’re welcome.”
- the Object 430 turret armor has no problems according to SerB (SS: a player complains that it now has the same vulnerability issues like the Object 140 had before the patch)
- the difference between the two Japanese types of AP shells lies “in their construction”, according to SerB

From Overlord:

- replays for WoWp are planned for version 1.2 or later

Also, the new method for calculating whether the tank is OP or not proved so interesting I will make a summary post tomorrow about it.

Interview with Veider, Knopka and one other developer

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/2882309.html

Hello everyone,

during a recent Wargaming meeting (Japanese-themed, since the Japanese patch is here), several developers were answering questions. Maiorboltach from RU community was kind enough to write a summary in Russian. The answering developers were Stanislav “Veider” Kargin (who was officially confirmed to be Zlobny’s successor as a head of balancing), Darja “Knopka” Klimchuk (who from what I gathered is sort of infamous amongst the Russian players – not sure why) and a member of the videomaking department, Maksim Koltonyuk. Here is the video (so you know what they look like):

And here is the summary:

- it was apparently very easy to balance Japanese tanks, as there are no blatant “one trick ponies” and the tanks are roughly average in all parameters, such as terrain passability, guns etc.
- Japanese tanks will not bring imbalanced vehicles into the game, they fit well into the game
- Chi-Nu Kai (tier 5 prem) represents well the Japanese gameplay, if you master it, you will play well on Japanese tanks

WG EU gift shop: Confused…

Alright, here’s something I don’t understand.

I have been following the daily giftshop offers (“Winter Surprise Calendar”) every day and it indeed surprises me every day. Not in a good way though. When the last warplane appeared (yet again) in a tank game offer, I was like “meh, whatever”. We all probably know who is guilty of this shit (for those who don’t: it’s Karlie and other community staff, not some “bean counter”).

But there have been things I don’t understand. A few days ago, there was a tank (it was the T-25 on Dec 18 I think), where the discount was stated to be 50 percent and when I went to the shop, it indeed WAS a 50 percent discount – both the tank and its slot were discounted). At that point I thought that if it lasted, I’d be actually writing a post saying that WG EU learned and the “discount” is now more clear. But no, of course they haven’t.

Check out today’s offer. It’s the E-25, 30 percent off. Not only the E-25 was already discounted once (weird, but okay, maybe someone forgot to buy it back then and will appreciate the chance to do so again), but in the shop, it is discounted at 24 percent.

wut

How the hell did they get this number? Count with me:

E-25, that’s 6700 gold. A slot is 300 gold.

If both were discounted by 30 percent, it would simply be 30 percent discount.
If the E-25 was discounted and the slot wasn’t at all, it would be 4690 + 300g = 4990g = 28,8 percent discount
If the E-25 was discounted and the slot was 50 percent discount (like in game), it would be 4690 + 150g = 30,8 percent discount

So why the hell is it 24 percent? Or am I missing something?
