Wargaming Disbands Warplanes Dev Studio, Fires Staff

Source: http://lenta.ru/news/2015/02/05/wargamingkharkov/

Hello everyone,

according to the news linked above (thanks to Maiorboltach for bringing it to attention), Wargaming announced they closed the office of Persha Studios in Kharkov (Ukraine). The Kiev office does continue its work. There were cca 50 people working in the Kharkov office. The key staff was offered positions in Minsk in Kiev, the rest was fired. The decision was, according to Wargaming Russian representative, taken “in connection with the restructuralization of the company’s web department”.

Persha Studios was the game designer studio responsible for World of Warplanes and was recently working on World of Tanks: Generals online card game, as well as creating specialized web application for Wargaming. The studio was independent until 2011, when it signed an exclusive contract with Wargaming, becoming for all intents and purposes Wargaming branch.

Nothing much today.

A player proposed a special mode in random (just like assault and encounter), that would be available only to good players with 20 percent extra credit/XP profit. Storm states that this is not a good idea – increasing the profit by 20 percent would break the monetization.

Also, it’s confirmed that AMX CDC and STA-2 will appear in the premium shop in 9.6. Both tanks will have unlimited MM. Their prices will only be known after 9.6 is released.

Straight Outta Supertest: D-Day Map

Hello everyone,

Wargaming released a map picture of an upcoming map (there are speculations it might arrive in 9.7) on their instagram. Check it out.

w9IOntZXrQA

Seen it before? Yea, that’s the map, that was first supertested (leaked) in August 2014. Wargaming is asking players, how would they name it – the original name was “D-Day” and it is clearly inspired by the Normandy landings. Here is the previous video, showing how the map looked back then:

“Yuri’s Hatch” – Landsverk L-60

Hello everyone,

if you read this blog carefully, you might have noticed one piece of information: Yuri Pasholok (WG’s main military history advisor) and his colleagues visited not that long ago the Hassleholm Militar vehicle museum in Sweden to make a whole bunch of photos of tanks and stuff. They had the opportunity to examine the Swedish vehicles carefully and there’s no doubt that at one point, the Swedes will appear in World of Tanks as well.

As a part of the effort, just out of curiosity and “for teh lulz”, Yuri Pasholok made – without any preparation or moviemaking gear – a quick lecture on the Landsverk L-60 light tank. The impressive part is that Yuri Pasholok is doing this just so from the top of his head, no pre-written script reading there. Whatever you think of him, you gotta respect that.

If you speak Russian, it’s actually very interesting. The thing is, he speaks fast and not very loud, so it’s really hard to catch some of the words and some parts I didn’t understand at all (could try making subtitles though). Still, even if you don’t speak Russian, it’s an iteresting look inside the L-60.

Most Useful Tanks for Clanwars

Source: http://wot-journal.com/news/index/id/227

Hello everyone,

based on the data of a popular Russian clan rating site ivanerr.ru, a table of the most useful tanks for Clanwars was collected – I think it’s actually quite interesting. To explain: some tanks are useful for clanwars and some are useless. The usefulness tank poll was made and distributed amongst Russian clan commanders and their deputies (people, who decide what tanks to use in CW). These polls happen repeatedly (every time the parameters of tier 10 tanks are buffed/nerfed).

The higher the vehicle is on the table, the more useful it is in Clanwars.

Useful Support is Useful

It’s not that big of a deal, but it kinda made me laugh (well, that upper right corner part for some reason) :) Thanks to eXterminus for this one.

Oh and if you are wondering about the guy’s answer: “The bug you encountered is known and we are trying to solve it. It should be fixed in the next update.”

Hmmm… so it’s not a mod issue, interesting.

Straight Outta Supertest: AMX-30 1st Prototype

Hello everyone,

this is the upcoming tier 9 medium tank, the “first prototype” of AMX-30. It will be unlocked from AMX-13/90.

83-sCwwamZs

Description: Created as a part of the competition to create a “unified European tank” and took part in the comparative trials with the Leopard 1. It surpassed all the tanks (except for Leopard 1) in mobility and power-to-weight ratio and had the longest effective firing range. Even though its armor was weaker than the majority of contemporary tanks, the development of anti-tank shells made up for the difference.

Characteristics (for 100 percent crew):

Hitpoints: 1650
Engine: 720 hp
Weight: 32,5 tons
Power-to-weight: 22,15 hp/t
Maximum speed: 65/23 km/h
Hull traverse: 36 deg/s
Terrain resistance: 0,863/0,959/1,726
Turret traverse: 45,9 deg/s
Viewrange: 390
Radio range: 782,1

- the bug where you could not activate the consumables on the test 3 was fixed already
- there will not be a HD E-100 in 9.6. In test 3, it was removed and switched back to SD version, as the developers will not be able to fix all the mistakes of the model until the release
- there is an issue in individual missions – if an IM requires you to capture base, you do but in the time between full capture and battle end, the last enemy vehicle gets destroyed, the battle will not count for the capture mission. This is apparently not a bug and it’s possible that “explaining text will be added” to the missions in the future
- Naydin medal is bugged atm, it will be fixed in 9.6
- according to the developers, the fact that FCM 36 with PAK 40 TD (also known as Marder I, German conversion) is in the French tree and not in the German one is historical: after the Normandy landings, captured obsolete French tanks converted by the Germans to TD’s were transferred to the Free French troops, who then used them in combat
- it’s possible that the game will offer the opportunity in the future to log into the game using your social network account. The security concerns of such a solution will however be addressed first.
- drowning yourself (suicide) before the battle is over is considered “unsportsmanlike behavior” and should be reported as such
- players complain about not completing individual missions even though they should have – many of those complaints are based on the fact that these players are using obsolete mods, that make the game show incorrect mission conditions, so be sure to check your mods, whether they are up to date – or remove them

Of Individual Mission Rigging

Hello everyone,

the individual missions have been around for a while now. Many players have their StuG IV’s already, some have the T28C, some have the T55A and more than a thousand (on RU server anyway) have Object 260. I am sure many of us noticed the change in gameplay style in randoms, occasional retarded behavior of a player, who wants to complete the mission at all costs and all that. It was to be expected and I am sure Wargaming counted on it. But there’s another really serious side effect the individual missions have, the rigging.

Rigging is a process, during which the players on both teams, instead of fighting one another are working together to complete the mission objectives, screwing the rest of the team in the process. The most notorious mission to be rigged (as far as I can tell) is the last mission of the heavy tank series, where a lot of bounced shells is required. The standard rigging process of this mission looks like this:

- you take three (or five, works better) friends (clanmates) and form two platoons
- you wait until very late in the night for the best chance to appear in the battle together
- you coordinate (via Teamspeak for example) it so that both platoon leaders click “battle” at once (simply by counting down on TS). In late night hours when very few players play, the chance to appear in one battle (on the opposite sides, one platoon each side) is very high
- you meet on some spot in the battle (preferably without witnesses) and you shoot each other’s tank strongspots (frontal turret, mantlet, spaced armor parts) to accumulate as much “damage saved by armor” as possible. There we go, mission done!
