Hall of Shame

Hello everyone,

you might have noticed that the “Retards of WoT” section has disappeared. The reason is that I realized that everyone, including me, rages at some point and it’s pointless to shame people for such outbursts. Therefore, I will not post further “Retards of WoT” articles, but I will keep the “Hall of Shame” section (you can access it via the menu above) for the worst retards: nazis, death threats, antisemitism… that kind of stuff. Feel free to send me pics with such idiots.

And today, we have another lovely “inductee”: Strongman105 – for taking the rage way too far. While some rages are funny, this is just creepy.

Wargaming working on “biggest game ever”

Thanks to ITDUDE for finding this interesting tidbit

there was a video for the Russian server (not sure it will appear for EU server too, probably not), describing the history and growth of Wargaming, with interviews and everything:

Right in the last minute, Chris Taylor mentions something interesting: Wargaming is (apart from the World of…) series working on a secret project – a game, that will possibly be the biggest game project in history (his own words). We are thrilled… I sure hope he’s not Stalin stalling.

Enough of Stalin

Alright guys,

the discussion about the Stalin issue got kinda long (700+ comments is a record!) and I am closing that discussion down, because I think it has run its course. I know this is a heated issue for you and I appreciate the fact that the discussion was (well, mostly and relatively) civil.

Let’s just carry on as usual. Historical articles and more Q&A tomorrow. Thinking about discontinuing the “Retards” section, I recieved a HUGE amount of e-mails with pics (as some of you predicted).

Edit: I removed the “Retards of WoT” section, because it contained not enough serious retardery and more of random rage. The worst retards will still be featured in the Hall of Shame however.

6.8.2013

So, it looks like the Stalin issue is the Rage of the Week on EU forums. Hmm… there should be an official announcement in the afternoon on WG EU portal. The feedback on RU server on this decision is overwhelmingly positive, with RU players mostly going like “hahaha suck that Europe” – plus making a lot of anti-Polish jokes

- tanks with ATGM’s? “I’ll say it like this, if this comes, it will be in another game”
- AA tanks with machineguns are not planned for now, SerB actually states the amount of shells from them might crash the servers
- the T-34-3 is armed with a 122mm gun – for now (SS: there have been several reports of this gun being changed, presumably to some D-10T clone)

Symbols of Victory (“Stalin strikes back!”)

Source: http://worldoftanks.ru/ru/news/1/symbols_of_victory/

Hello everyone,
this is a WG RU article translation. This article came out like an hour ago on official WG RU portal. It is…. well, you be the judge.

Vehicles, emblems and inscriptions happen to be an integral part of of all Wargaming projects. With their help, we create the atmosphere of those events and years for our players. Some of those elements of the game process (inscriptions “Stalinec”, “For Stalin!”, “For our Soviet Motherland!”, “Iosif Stalin” and others) are politicized, and their use often causes unease and mixed feelings of a lot of players. The company understands that certain individual members of community might have their feelings hurt, but at the same time does not want to twist the history and to further remove content from the game, that is not banned on the international level.

Medical Aspects of War Tanks

Author: Vollketten

Another quite interesting article from Vollketten, enjoy :)

I was browsing through some of the excellent archive of the British Medical Journal for another project I am working on and as a result came across some articles relating to tanks I thought I would share here as matter of general interest.

Regarding WW1 tanks

There was discussion (post war) about the use of tanks to carry or move wounded from the front and as dressing stations protected from enemy fire and shells. Notably one suggestion was that certain types of larger tanks could be “adapted for medical purposes with a dressing table in the centre of the hold behind the engine with electric light provided, stretchers and hammocks arranged in tiers capable of holding half a dozen lying cases or twenty sitting.”

On FTR issues, please read!

PLEASE READ

Hello, dear readers

there are a couple of issues with FTR I’d like to adress as a reaction of several e-mails I recieved recently. First, this week, I will have an unexpected vacation, so you can expect a bit more content than usual. At least if I will try. On to more serious issues however:

- several readers have reported they cannot access FTR properly. Curiously, they all were Americans and I THINK that it had something to do with Telia. No idea what happened, but it should work now. If you have problems with reading FTR, please let me know in comments

- regarding EnsignExpendable and the comment “shitstorm” under one of the recent articles: EnsignExpendable’s knowledge of Soviet war effort, vehicles and history is extremely impressive and I am really glad I have him writing on FTR occassionally. If you don’t like his articles, please – feel free not to read them. I’d like to ask you however to keep it civil in the comment section: I promised in the beginning I won’t censor the comments – and I don’t censor them, but some of the comments from last month (not necesserily under the EE articles) were over the borders and I got so pissed I actually banned two people. I unbanned them after an hour or so, when I cooled down, but seriously, don’t do that stuff. Thanks.

In the future, I will adress more tank myths, such as the notorious “Shermans burned all the time”,or the “Secrets of American TD doctrine”. Don’t worry, no bias here (funnily enough, I recieved a bunch of e-mails about me being anti-German or whatever, while only a few months back, I did recieve two e-mails that I am in fact a nazi, because I write about Axis tanks and history and my nickname shortcut is SS).

- feel free to whisper me in game, but please, I don’t do platoons. Thanks for all the offers, I very much appreciate them, but I really just prefer to solo, unless I know that person really well. If some you watched the Circon’s stream where I was a guest, you might understand why.

And, last but not least

I understand the ads are possibly annoying and I’d like to thank those of you, who aren’t blocking them. It’s a huge help and much appreciated. I’d also like to specifically ask once again all those, who donated in the past (and those who still intend to, if there are any such folks here) :) I can buy some coffee from that – and I do drink a LOT of coffee, more coffee = more creativity in my case :)

Seriously though, any support, if only a short e-mail, is much appreciated. Thank you.

Official Russian FAQ

Source: RU thread

Hello everyone,

here is a translation (or more like, summary) of the official Russian developer FAQ. This info is official, it’s not my summary of developer post. This FAQ was created by developers themselves. Why EU server has no such thing, I have no idea, but I will be replacing my FTR FAQ with this. Please keep in mind, that this is NOT a regular Q&A, more like a sum of info, but there is some new/less known stuff, so you’d do well to go thru it.

I will regularily check for updates too.
