Havok ETA: Far Future

Hello everyone,

Storm confirmed in the comments under his post the following thing:

Havok will NOT come anytime soon, its ETA was switched to “far future” (in WoT terms, cca 8-9 months to over a year). The reason for this change is the performance loss, caused by Havok. Storm comments:

“Far future. We have to completely rework everything because of the unsatisfactory performance.”

EU Server Gold Return for WZ-111 Missions

Source: http://wg-news.com/wot-pc-zeitpunkt-der-rueckerstattung-fuer-den-wz-111/

Thanks to Eikarrramba for this one.

Just a quick update from the EU server. There are people, who bought the WZ-111 mission tokens, but they then played and finished the missions by themselves. Please be aware that if that happened, you will get 2500 gold as a compensation for each such token. These will be awarded – according to the WG EU staff, cited in the post above – early next week (eg. cca 26.1.-27.1.)

Porsche That Hunted: Typ 245, 250 and 255

Author: Zarax, Silentstalker

Hello everyone,

I am sure all of you noticed the removal of the E-25 from the shop. Of course, that leaves a gap in the tree of sorts – what of the players, who want to buy a lightweight but rapid fire tank destroyers? Well, fear not, for there are candidates, that could potentially replace the E-25 as the light tank destroyers. Enter the world of the “mad genius” of WW2, Dr.Ferdinand Porsche and his light tank/TD series. Let’s have a look at them in an article by Zarax:

As World War II progressed, resources dwindled and the coming of Speer marked the end of serious support for super-heavy and technically complex designs, Ferdinand Porsche found the need for a radical change of design philosophy.

His advanced petro-electric powered designs were found too demanding in resources and maintenance, with the Porsche Tiger chassis becoming the simplified Elefant and the Maus, his masterpiece, reduced to a production of a few prototypes, constantly tweaked but with no future.

How To Clean Your PC and Make WoT Run Faster by Zarax

Author: Zarax

Hello everyone, this is a very simple guide how to make your PC run faster and how to clean it of unwanted crap. It is not aimed at advanced users – if you know all that is written here, it’s not a guide for you, simple as that. But there are a lot of guys out there who don’t and maybe it will help a tiny bit. -SS

WOT is a peculiar game, in some ways optimized to run on low spec PCs that tends to hamper performance for better machines.
Upgrading hardware is of course the best way to improve performance but that doesn’t mean you cannot improve your PC experience without spending money. For this tutorial, I’m going to assume you know at least your PC specs and the basics into using Windows. If not, please ask for help from someone more skilled as while the advice here is as safe as possible, improper use of some steps may still cause some damage.

WOT uses your CPU, RAM, Video Card and Hard Disk, so we will use some simple tricks and a few programs to help your PC squeeze as many resources as possible for the game, with advice valid for all Windows OS. Please note this article aims for simplicity so I advise technically versed readers to bear with some simplification and captain obvious-styled advice.

Part I: Easy Steps

I will not cover connectivity as it would require another article but remember that connecting via cable is better than using wi-fi and using 3G connections leads to a bad experience as latency is usually bery high.

AMX CDC, STA-2, ISU-130 and AMX-13/57 Footage

Hello everyone,

Russian Wotfan channel published a video with a preview of the upcoming premium vehicles. Check it out.

- ISU-130 is a special vehicle for moderators. It’s not very fast and agile and the armor is meh, but the gun is okay.
- AMX-13/57 is tier 7 premium French light tank with super-rapid fire autoloader (57mm with 143/195mm penetration, magazine reloads for 15 seconds). The tank is fast, but NOT very nimble though.
- STA-2 is much like STA-1, but it’s slower and not very agile and has poor armor. Penetration of the 90mm is 185mm, but it has 275mm HEAT rounds.
- AMX CDC has a good gun and insane agility and speed, but no armor whatsoever. Gold rounds have interesting 259mm penetration. The vehicle is a second-line support tank thanks to its lack of armor.

Neither CDC nor STA-2 have limited MM.

So, About the Czechoslovak Tree…

…that’s right, not a branch, a tree. Here’s the link to source message.

untitled

Me: *related rant* According to this logic, we should have a Czech tree.
Storm: And who said there won’t be a Czech tree?

*evil smile* (tm Daigensui)

So yea, there will be one. Today, the two gentlemen that made the Swedish tree proposal (Sp15 and Renhaxue) met with WG representatives in Stockholm to discuss the Swedish branch (amongst other things). WG is actively working on what was previously an EU tree, but apparently decided to split the major nations (Czechoslovaks, Swedish, Italians) into separate trees. As far as I know, at this moment, according to WG representatives, the Czechoslovak branch is scheduled first, with the Swedish one (medium/heavy mix, sorry, no S-Tank) as a backup in the event of some major problem with the Czechoslovaks, which frankly is not expected (although there are some things that need to be cleared out).

To that end, me and two Czech historians, V.Francev and J.TintÄ›ra, are meeting again the WG representatives in Prague at the end of the month. I think the final verdict will be known after that, but it’s looking good. Personally, I believe we have found a sure way to bypass the tier 9 issue without sacrificing the premium TVP (earlier “TVP model 1945″, now “TVP Concept”), even though WG doesn’t necesserily agree with me, but well – that’s what the meeting is about.

20.1.2015 – Big Storm’s Q&A

Before we start – one thing. I have to optimize FTR operation a bit, but I don’t want to sacrifice things I (and you) like, so I’ll sacrifice something I don’t like. From this point onwards, no news on World of Warships will appear on FTR. Based on the things from the alpha test and the last public test, I do not have faith in the game, I do not like ships and I do believe it’s a niche product, that will end up better than WoWp, but not by a lot. Sorry. But there’s some public test again, good luck with it.

And now, back to tanks.

- it’s possible that there will be new perks, modules and consumables, but it’s not guaranteed they will come this year
- no free FV4202 premium? “No comment”
- currently, WG is reworking WoT audio under to the “wwise” system, unclear as to what will it mean for WoT players
- the spawn point distribution (as in, how vehicles are placed within the spawn area) are chosen so that they are evenly distributed and balanced
- the issue with small objects of houses (like porches, stairs) being undestructible – this will be reworked, but not soon (during “complete content overhaul”)
- AMX CDC is still being balanced, it’s too early to judge it
- WoT will not have a separate subscription-based server
- Storm states that the nostalgia after old patches is just the effect of human memory of remembering only good things. The reality, when comparing them to the current state of the game, they suck. Not so long ago, WG was “testing” an old version of the game (6.0 or something), it was terrible.

Entire Team of Bots in Stronkhold Battle

Well, this is certainly a weird video, thanks to ThorsassGaming for sending this to me.

Check this out. A player Fearkill98 from NOARM (Norwegian Army) clan was recently involved in a very strange Stronkhold battle against (Czechoslovak) clan X5 (will become important later). A tier 10 Stronghold battle – and the enemy X5 team led by an E-100 dragged an entire fucking team of bots in TOG’s into the fight. It’s likely it’s a multibox setup (notice the loading time). Incredible.

How do I know the clan is Czechoslovak (or, rather Slovak)? Well, for one, the E-100 guy has svk in it’s name, but more importantly, the name of the bots, “rota”, means “company” (as in, military unit) in Czech and Slovak.

The videomaker actually asks the right question – what is the point of dragging 14 bots into a battle with you? Especially those with AFK macro? Plus, it probably did cost a lot of money – 13 TOG’s… not cheap.

Anyway, as a result, the entire clan (save for one person) was permabanned, including the E-100 guy. Good riddance.
