SU-76i Removal from Shop Confirmed

Hello everyone,

thanks to Edrard (Wot-news owner) for this information. SU-76I was indeed officially removed from the premium shop. This decision came from Minsk. Here’s what a Russian representative told Edrard about the matter (private conversation):

“In short, we introduced it into the shop, then we saw the statistics after first few days and came to the conclusion that the tank is not suitable for selling. We will remove it from the shop. Everyone, who bought it, can calm down, it will stay in their garage. We will think further what to do with it. There is no information on when it will return to the shop, we will think about what to do.”

As I told you, it was OP and therefore it was removed. Oh well.

SU-76i Removed from Shop

Hello everyone,

not so long ago (not sure when exactly, but I’d say about half an hour back), the SU-76I was removed from the shop on all servers. The reason is unknown (either they are preparing re-release with proper announcement, a “whale” package, or the vehicle was OP, as the reports from Russian server suggest).

SU-76i In Premium Shop

Hello everyone,

as announced in the 9.4 release post on the portal, from today, new Soviet tank destroyer SU-76I is being sold in the premium shop. Surprisingly enough, Wargaming didn’t even try to harpoon the whale this time with outrageous bundles, but what is even weirder is that there is no grand announcement on the portal either, as it usually is with new premium vehicles.

The price of the vehicle is as such (vehicle + garage slot):

EU server: 6,75 USD
RU server: 5,2 USD
US server: 7,19 USD

Hello everyone,

Polish armored forces (specifically the 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade) participate/will participate in a training called Black Eagle-14 in Żagań (Poland) with their Leopard 2′s along with their British counterparts with Challenger 2 tanks and Dom1n’s blog published a set of very nice photos from the preparations for it. I’m going to “borrow” them :) Enjoy.

Bugs in 9.4

Hello everyone,

some of you have already experienced the “new” (or, rather, returned) bug in 9.4 – black artefacts on the screen.

Just letting you know – I passed the info (along with the video, thanks to IonorRea for it) on the bug directly to Storm in his 9.4 feedback thread. He wrote that he is aware of this bug and that they will try to fix it as soon as possible. And meanwhile in 9.4 (thanks to Rita for the screenie):

Yes, you are not supposed to be driving inside the buildings. It turns out that the Stalingrad map has an unusually high number of these spots, where the collision models of the houses and landscape are incorrect and you can (in best case) get inside a house and get stuck there (the way you get stuck in that one infamous Westfield house, only easier), in worst case you fall through the map (also happened).

Come on, Wargaming. Not so long ago, an article came out, where you bragged about the model verification process for WoWs. Can’t you just verify map models as well before you send them to the live server?

Straight Outta Supertest: AMX Chasseur de Chars

Upcoming tier 8 French premium medium tank (oddly enough, in real life it was a tank destroyer, but whatever). It is currently not known whether it’s a reward tank, regular premium or whatever.

CJXG-wvcIN4

Description:

Early project for a new tank destroyer was introduced by the company AMX in 1946. Powerful engine and low weight were to ensure good mobility and 90mm gun with a mechanized ammo rack was to ensure good rate of fire. However, large size and quite thin armor and very complex and expensive design caused this vehicle not to be approved. Existed only in drawings.

Stats are for 100 percent crew.

Tier 8 MT
Hitpoints: 1400
Engine: 1200hp
Weight: 34 tons
Power-to-weight: 35,29 hp/t
Maximum speed: 57/13 km/h

Weekly FTR Technical Post and Contributor Review

Hello everyone,

so, today’s going to be a bit longer technical post, because there are some things I want to write about For the Record.

For one… the contributors. At this moment, I am not really sure how to thank you all, but I would like to do more, especially for all those people, who support For the Record using Patreon – and don’t think I don’t see you, I review the names list practically every week and I do know the largest contributors (Tugboat1964, Kkessu, alex78i, KvetoslavWot and many others) by nicknames.

The thing is… what can I actually do for you?

- platoon and company? Well, apart from me not being a good player in platoons (to put it mildly, I hate them), I consider that a waste of time I could be instead putting into FTR. But sure, I guess if anyone of you is interested.
- keep some news exclusive to subscribers? No. I hate that idea, I think everyone should get everything and that’s it.
- some competitions and whatnot? Well, there was recently the Panther competition, but I consider this a bit pointless as well, after all last time I did that (with my own money no less), several people got offended that I am using the money they donated to finance the prizes for other people. Not exactly a good thing.

Any other ideas? Let me know in comments, because this is something that bothers me. Which brings me to the second point: Panther competition. The winners should be recieving their DVD’s this week (at least the European ones) – if not, let me know, please. Sorry for the delay, there was just a lot on my plate, it’s kinda my fault, I apologize.

As for the rest, well, some of you ask me about my health state, it’s better thanks (ATM I am suffering only from the worst disease of all, man-flu – how terrible). It’s just that I did a lot of thinking lately about FTR again. I mean… I’ve been doing this for ages and I am tired, even though I slowed down a bit (you might notice that the historical articles were cut down a bit, the translations are still the same however, plus the leaks of course) – the notable example of this was the Hall of Shame and the development of anti-asshole mod, connected with it (it’s ready and deployed on Russian server as we speak, the EU version of it will be tied to next Hall of Shame, possibly next week).

On the other hand, it would by a damn shame to throw it all away. About a month ago, I practically ragequitted (if any Rita viewers watch this, you might remember my rant from the stream, I was pretty pissed at Wargaming for reasons that in the meanwhile seem to have remedied themselves, you’ll see), but ever since, I found a way to… let’s say re-purpose For the Record a bit. For now, everything’s as usual, with one small addition.

You know how I wanted to incorporate Armored Warfare news into FTR? Yea well… I can’t do that. The wot-news agreement with Wargaming prevents me. And so, there will be actually a SECOND FTR, this time with AW news. They are far in between anyway for now (as the game is not in beta yet) and reviving the old FTR (remember the blogspot one?) is simple enough. How connected will the two be – I don’t know yet, I’ll sit down and work on it this weekend I think. That’s the plan anyway, we’ll see how it goes.

In any case, sorry for the long post – now for the most important matter: once again it’s the time to thank the contributors, it’s you who keep FTR running after all! This time, following people donated via Paypal:

Mrwanwan (Lithuania)
Glaston (Canada)
Robert G. (Michigan, USA)
Mark P. (United Kingdom)
Matthew H. (Australia)

Thank you, guys. I really appreciate it.

Now, for the Patreon cycle:

Out of the 577,29 USD pledged at the point of the cycle activation:

- 527,29 USD came in successfully (the rest didn’t go through for some reason on the contributor side, insufficient funds on account etc.)
- out of 527,29 USD, after the Patreon and CC fees and all that, 449,89 USD were left for FTR – much appreciated! The list of contributors can be viewed here. Once again, huge thanks for the support to all of you :)

5.11.2014

- there are some vehicles, that still need nerfing, the developers however were busy with other things
- no plans for the KV-5 radioman miniturret for now (too early to talk about the Sixth Sense rework)
- Panther 88mm did really well when tested in CT 9.4
- Storm agrees that the Stalingrad minimap is not very representative, it needs to be fixed
- currently, the feedback on Russian server is that the clans are starting to set their Stronghold attack time to 3-4AM, when the chance of being attacked is very low. Developers will consider what to do to remedy this.
- the bug with tiny minimap icons was not fixed, developers didn’t manage to do it on time, the problem is however considered insignificant
- 9.5 will be bigger (more important) than 9.4

Tank Inspector PRO, Sneak Preview (Part 2)

Source: http://tankinspector.sinaapp.com/stipro-sneak-preview-part-ii/

Author: Hillin (Tank Inspector developer)

Part 1: http://ftr.wot-news.com/2014/10/20/tank-inspector-pro-sneak-preview-part-1/

Hello again everyone,

Here comes the second part of the Tank Inspector PRO Sneak Preview series. This time, we will take a look at the model viewer.

Model inspection is an important and popular feature of Tank Inspector. Thanks to its advanced deferred rendering engine, Tank Inspector present tank models in a high quality, comparable to those being rendered in the game. In Tank Inspector PRO, we improved the rendering engine to bring an even higher graphics quality. Furthermore, just as we promised and exhibited in recent Tank Inspector releases, we are introducing a really useful Capture function.
