Winter Mod for 0.9.5 is Here

Thanks to PlazmaKeks for letting me know!

Okay, after the arty mod rage, here’s another mod I really like for your consideration. I hope the reactions this time will be… less conflicting, because this is truly a work of art.

The Winter Mod is a complete overhaul of the game objects and maps to “winter” settings. Yes, that’s a shitload of work. Its author, Torsus_SD, did an amazing job (as did other people who worked on it). Here’s a 0.9.5 compatible version. You can download either a full, or a “light” version. Full version has everything, light version is missing the snowy tank textures.

Be warned, this mod is HUGE!

Full version link: here (3,1 GB)
Light version link: here (1,7 GB)

Please note:

This mod is NOT for very weak computers as it can decrease FPS drastically on older setups. If you experience such a thing and want to try it out, try turning off particle effects (the falling snow) by deleting the “particles” folder from the res_mods/0.9.5/ folder.

Random Wargaming-related News

Hello everyone,

a couple of random newspieces related to Wargaming from all over the world. So, what’s going on with our favourite company?

Youtube cooperation

According to sbpit.su site, Wargaming and VSP Group announced an exclusive cooperation contract regarding the promotion of Wargaming-developed products on Youtube.

“Based on the license of Wargaming.net, the monetization of all the Youtube channels, that use completely or partially elements belonging to Wargaming.net will be passed over to VSP group.”

Ever since Novemeber 2014, a unification of all the official and fan channels, publishing World of Tanks videos to a single space is in process. This apparently already increased the quality of content of WoT video channels. I have absolutely no idea how that works, so if any videomaker wants to share what it actually means (if it means anything), now’s your chance.

Miss IT 2014

According to the site 42.tut.by, the “impression” category of Miss IT Belarusian competition was won on 7.12.2014 by Veronika Igosheva from Wargaming (developer in the “game stream” department). Congrats I guess.

Regarding Mittengard…

Hello everyone,

patch 9.5 brought us mostly nice things, but as it usually is, there are some screwups as well. Take for example the Mittengard map. Yesterday, I actually got it – yep, remember how Storm said it would be available to new players only? Well, apparently I am one. Oh well, whatever. So, this is how it started…

And this is 11 seconds into the battle.

Wargaming Fuckup of the Day

Thanks to Flametz from US forums for this one. Check this out, looks like this Pershing collision model is missing something…

persh

What could it be, what could it be… oh, that’s right. The entire fucking turret!

Luckily (for us), this is not the real Pershing from the regular US branch. If you look at the name of the model – this is a special “Korean” Pershing. These vehicles with Korean letters in their name are special vehicles for Korean server only. They are used for internet café’s and can be rented for a price. Basically you go to the internet café (big thing in Korea, not so much elsewhere), rent a tank and play. So yea, I am sure the Koreans are thrilled.

And yes, I checked the real Pershing model, it’s fine. I still can’t wrap my head around it, how on earth is this crap happening? A random developer just goes around, deleting parts of models or something for the lulz? Oh well.

22.12.2014

Again, nothing much today, but on 24.12. at 17:00 CET (or so), there will be a stream with Storm, where he will talk about game development, so we got that going for us, which is nice. I will watch it and prepare a summary of course.

- developers do not think that a lot of the feedback regarding recent patches was negative, quite the contrary
- Winterberg was developed as official Ruinberg on Fire replacement
- Individual Missions will start on 15.1.2015 (they are not active in the 9.5 patch client)
- according to developers, it was never promised for Sixth Sense rework to appear in 9.5 (SS: true, it will come later)
- you can enable or disable extended minimap functions in the settings
- according to developers, the Severogorsk map was not removed because of the “veteran players whining”, but for objective reasons. Statistics were analyzed and a decision was taken to remove the map for rework (SS: notice the “for rework” part)
- M56 Scorpion is still in the process of balancing
- Panther 88 will appear in ingame shop likely in patch 9.6

And that’s all really.
