Straight outta Supertest: New tank icons

Source: wot-news

Hello everyone,

recently, someone leaked new icons from supertest again :) Some we have seen before, some are new though, so let’s have a look at it. The descriptions are obviously mine.

AMR-35

france-AMR_35

French light tank, total crap. Might find use in WoT though.

E-10

germany-G47_E10

Original Wargaming description (also leaked):

A proposed light tank destroyer weighing about 12 tons. Its most innovative feature was to be the ability to adjust the ground clearance, changing the vehicle’s height from 1760 to 1400 mm. The vehice would be powered by either the Maybach HL 100 or the Argus engine. Development was discontinued in favor of the Hetzer.

Neubaufahrzeug

germany-NbFz

One of the earliest German tanks. You can read about it a bit more here. Nice premium variant overall.

T88 HMC

usa-A59_T88

The T88 is simply a Hellcat with a 105mm howitzer. Please note that this is not a tank destroyer, but an artillery vehicle.

US Chi-Ri

usa-Chi_Ri

This is apparently an American captured tank version of the Japanese Chi-Ri. It’s nice to see that the development of captured tank continues.

14.1.2014

- some vehicles (like the FCM 50t) have visibly lower quality of some parts of the model (in this case, tracks). The reason for that is that currently, the maximum amount of polygons per model is limited and sometimes there’s just not enough
- improved Prokhorovka (SS: see earlier leak post) is work in progress, it will not appear in 8.11, maybe it will in 9.0
- Windstorm map (SS: modelled apparently after Trondheim) will appear in 8.11
- the Windstorm map is the same map Storm referred to as “Norwegian/Swedish map”
- the guns on the Prokhorovka map (if I understand it correctly) will be German
- the new Prokhorovka is not made for HD-client yet

Straight outta Supertest: Map leaks

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/2947595.html

Warning, this post is VERY picture heavy

So, a couple of pictures were leaked by supertesters. First, Prokhorovka will be graphically reworked. The map now looks more war-torn, with smoke on the horizon, destroyed guns and such. This map is work in progress and Storm confirmed it will NOT appear in 8.11

WG EU fail: Orlik medal post – stronk history

Source: Dom1n’s blog

Hello everyone,

today, Dom1n (Polish blogger) pointed out in the linked above article that Wargaming’s Orlik post is not exactly historically accurate. So, in order to fix the info:

- the vehicle on the picture is obviously not Orlik’s 20mm TKS tankette, but a TK3 with a 7,92mm Wz.25 machinegun. The 20mm version looks like this (very difficult to look up the correct picture, took me as long as like 5 seconds):

QB2vgqA

- Victor IV Albrecht von Ratimor (as posted in WG’s article) was actually von Ratibor, here’s the announcement of his death:

POL_Wiktor_IV_Albrecht_von_Ratibor

- the man on the picture posted by Wargaming is actually Roman Radwan-Okuszko, not Roman Orlik. I can see where this came from though, several western sources mess the picture up.

I actually thought that Wargaming made one more mistake – not long ago, Listy wrote a post about this encounter, where he states Ratibor was actually riding a Panzer IV and commanded two LT-35′s, but after looking up several Polish sources, I think Wargaming might actually be right, prince Ratibor likely died in a Panzer 35 (t), according to Polish sources. However, even Polish sources differ in here, so it’s really not clear.

Either way, these historical posts should be as much accurate as possible. Orlik’s heroic action deserves nothing less.

13.1.2014

- it’s “completely possible” that historical battles mode will bring battles that took place between 1945-1960 (with T-54, Patton etc.)
- for now, it’s not planned for small and medium stones to be destuctable
- Storm states that if the gold shells get nerfed (for examply their damage), their price will not be reduced
- there are no plans to remove the “tent” that is located inside the base circle
- there are no plans to introduce special crew bonus (like the one given by improved ventilation) to open-topped vehicles, the fact they are open-topped is already taken into account when they are created (SS: as in, in their basic characteristics)

Overlord on special tanks being CW and mission rewards:

I agree that unique tanks can and should be used as a reward for completing some complex missions. This, however, doesn’t mean that CWs shouldn’t have their own unique content. Global map is quite time- and effort-consuming game mode. Rewards should be respective.

RU server accounts hacked – again…

Hello everyone,

so, remember that 300 gold for password change event on the RU server from last week? Now we know the reason. Wargaming RU VK page (VK means Vkontakte, it is basically Russian version of Facebook, very popular) reported the following:

vkon

Basically, someone (unnamed third party) got their hands on (probably hacked) WG RU database of several thousand account e-mails and leaked it. These players were immediately threatened by the loss of their account, hence the “change your password for 300g” event.

The accounts that were threatened were temporarily blocked in order to prevent their theft. This resulted in a massive whine on RU forums, because their owners thought they were being banned for no reason (one player from Ukraine even wrote to me to report the issue). For those “banned” this way: you can write a support ticket and get your account restored.

And yes, this has happened before – the first “300g for password change” event some of you might still remember was also a result of an account security breach on RU server.

Russian event missions – whoa…

Hello everyone,

in bad need of credits? You probably wish now you were playing on RU server. Russian server just announced the Siege of Leningrad event with the following bonus:

On three Sundays (19.1., 26.1. and 2.2.), if you end up in top 10 of your battle in XP, you will earn 30 percent more credits. BUT if you end up in top 3, you will earn 40 percent more credits. What? Not enough? Okay, listen well. These bonuses add up. Since ending up in top 3 obviously means you ended in top 4, the bonuses add up and you will get 70 percent more credits. (yes, this is specifically stated in the mission description)

leningrad

And this applies for ALL the vehicles (even premium ones!) and you don’t even have to win the battle. All you need to do is end up in top 10 (or top 3) of your team. Oh yea and there is also double XP for all the battles.

But we’re not on Russian server, so… no extra credits for you, capitalists!

Okinawa Sherman – possible US premium tank

Author:  Vollketten (with some suggestions by Captain Nemo)

The Okinawa Sherman

Of all the tanks in WW2 few could rivalry the sheer numbers produced, the number of front served in or the vast number of modifications carried out. Many of these modifications were on a very small scale so are not necessarily distinct or common enough to warrant a special vehicle. There is of course the battle for Okinawa for which modifications were extensive in both numbers and appearance.

Most people will have seen Shermans covered with sandbags in books or footage of the war. To cover an entire Sherman it was found to take about 170 full sandbags to cover an M4 adequately although up to 200 were used on occasion. Initially secured with wire mesh and later with welded steel brackets and was often done on a wide scale. The 14th Armored Division in Europe “systematically sandbagged their tanks prior to entering combat”. Estimate a sandbag at approximately 10kg and this adds a considerable 1.7 to 2 tonnes to the vehicle.
