Moar Customization?

Hello everyone,

several people actually recently sent me a link to an article, that has nothing per se to do with World of Tanks – it’s about War Thunder (yes, I still have the game on my hard drive and no, I haven’t touched it yet, gotta check the schedule, when there’s the closest GF test and have a look).

War Thunder released a patch, where it is possible to easily customize the game, according to player’s needs. If I understand correctly, the skins are client-side (like in World of Tanks), so only you can see them, but whoever was making the video about it mentioned that the developers would like to have them server-side.

Another cool function is that you can actually create your own maps and missions. So far they can be only shared with friends, but check this out:

WoT Suicide…

Source: http://www.amic.ru/news/261960

A sad story, this is – in St.Petersburg, a 17 year old Alexander S. jumped out of a 4th floor window, ending in hospital with serious injuries, after losing in a computer game World of Tanks. During this incident, his grandmother was present in the appartment.

According the words of his grandmother, the teenager got angry, started destroying the PC screen, then he ran into the kitchen and then he jumped out of the window. According to the district authorities, an investigation was opened under the Article 110 of the Russian Penal Code: “Incitement to suicide”. His girlfriend wrote on social network that he played a lot of World of Tanks and often raged online. The teenager also had real life issues, he was recently expelled from school and possibly had problems with his step-father.

Well guys, whenever someone tells you in chat to go kill yourselves…. don’t take it literally.

European Tree part III – Hungary

Part I – Introduction
Part II – Italy, Czechoslovakia

Hello everyone,

today, we are going to talk about another two major candidates for the European tree. In case you are seeing this post series for the first time or don’t even know what the EU tree concept is, please read part 1 of the series. Part 2 deals with Italy and Czechoslovakia and today, we are going to talk about Hungary.

Hungary

As one of the very few possible EU branches, Hungary tanks are actually well researched and generally known. The branch itself is quite limited: Hungarians have enough medium (heavy) tanks and tank destroyers to reach tier 7, but practically nothing above that tier. Normally, that would be a serious problem, but the Hungarian significance lies in two things:

- Hungarian tanks are historically important: most actually fought in the war and went through some tough battles on the eastern front
- the tanks themselves (although drawing from Czechoslovak, German and Swedish design schools) are quite distinctive and unique, no other nation used them and there are no copies in this tree, unless you start thinking about making it all to tier 10

For this part, I will be using the work of Károly “Karika” Németh – you might recognize that name from various For the Record articles, written based on Hungarian sources and therefore as close to historicity as it gets. Karika imagines the Hungarian tree (or at least branches) as such:

Japanese Tank Drawings from SEA

Hello everyone,

it’s probably not widely known, but SEA (how the hell is that server called now? SEA? ASIA? WG East? WG Asia?) has this running program, where various authors make drawings/paintings of Japanese tanks and someone (WG “expert” or whatnot) makes a write-up of that tank’s specific history. That alone is not interesting, but the drawings are pretty. Check this out (by clicking on the tank name, you’ll get to the original article with tank description):

Making pre-9.0 Skins work in 9.0

Source: http://pkwot.blogspot.cz/2014/04/90-favorite-tank-skin-not-working.html

Special thanks to Snowypearl (SEA) for sending me the link to this blog

Hello everyone,

I generally don’t use skins or any such stuff, but I think this info is rather useful, so I will re-post it here. For those who don’t know him, like I didn’t, Plazmakeks is running a rather useful nice blog, dedicated to World of Tanks mods and skins. In the abovementioned post, he explains, how to make the pre-9.0 skins work in 9.0.

6

Plazmakeks explains – I will quote directly his article:

Let’s use T-62A skin as an example. Before 9.0 the files in the skin folder looked like this:

T62A.dds
T62A_crash.dds
T62A_NM.dds

Now they need to look like this:

T62A_AM.dds
T62A_crash_AM.dds
T62A_NM.dds

So all you need to do is add “_AM” to the actual tank skin and to the crash skin.
Now, this will work for the regular (non HD models) tank’s. For Т-34-85, Т-54, Panther, Tiger I, Maus, M4 Sherman, Hellcat, M103, Centurion Mk. 7/1 and Tortoise this method will result in smudged dark (useless) skin.

Latrun Museum Pictures

Hello everyone,

player Gabo from US server recently visited the famous Latrun tank museum in Israel and decided to share a few pictures with us. Enjoy!

This conversion was, if I recall correctly, made by Egypt, this vehicle was captured during the Yom Kippur war.

Stronk 9.0 – All remaining Enemies Crashed, Player Gets Top Gun

Sorry for the video spam, but this is kinda hilarious :) Player Korbu sent me his video of this particular event. Two remaining tanks against six enemies – the battle seems decided! But wait – patch 9.0 is very stronk and so it happened that ALL the enemies’ game client crashed, much to the amusement of the two survivors…

Free kills, everyone!

(at 5:40, everyone loses connection, at 7:05, Korbu and his teammate learn of this from an enemy player, who is active, but dead)
