8.9 new map – North-West

New map (North-West) – official WG description:

This rustic, rural location may have been a peaceful, agricultural haven at one time, but these days, it is only host to hostile machinery. Northwest features a scenic, pastoral setting marked by farm equipment and open fields.

This map provides a good variety of high and low hotspots, as well as plenty of camouflage opportunities, as the map is peppered with trees. Don’t get too distracted by the scenery, because getting caught in the open on Northwest is a recipe for destruction.

- the situation when a teammate runs into your shot (that is already flying) will still count as teamdamage, won’t be changed
- SerB states that the assumption premium tanks should have lower average winrate than regular tanks of the same class is correct
- SerB considers too high winrate for premium tanks a problem: “We don’t sell pwnage for money”

FTR on FB and more

Hello everyone,

in last month, there was a huge influx of readers for FTR, on some days in truly unexpected numbers. I’d like to thank you all for your continued support!

For those who are new here: there is a For the Record Facebook page, where I am posting less important info, quick updates and other stuff, so the blog itself is not spammed too much. If you want the quickest updates on everything or are simply wondering “what’s taking so long today”, chances are the answer is there.

As always, I’d like to thank everyone who switched their Adblock off for this page, you guys keep the page going, literally. If you haven’t switched the Adblock yet, well – that’s up to you of course, I won’t urge you to change this. But it helps me.

And of course, if someone doesn’t want to bother with Adblock, but would like to contribute either way, the Paypal Donate button is in the upper right corner :)

Seriously though, all support (even words) is greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone!

7/42 companies and more in 8.9

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/2574634.html

Hello everyone,

as you probably noticed, 7/42 companies are coming to World of Tanks as predicted in patch 8.9. For details, check the linked post, but I think that the really interesting part is the – so much desired – skill MM.

What is not mentioned however is that the 7/42 mode will run on following maps: Lakesville, Abbey, Prokhorovka, Mines, Ruinberg, Steppes, Himmelsdorf , Ensk and Cliff. The mode of these maps will be only standard for now (no assaults or encounters). As for XP and credit gains, it will work just like in random for now (eg. no company bonuses).

Storm on mods

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/250015.html

Hello everyone,

Storm recently posted a topic on developer forum, where he asks players, what mods they use (linked above, if you speak Russian, you can leave him some feedback too). Not much more to it (mostly player writing), but several pieces of info can be found there:

- Storm likes the damage panel used in leagues, it’s possible it will be implemented into the game
- at this moment Storm is studying map feedback (“hotspots” – where people die the most, from where people shoot the most etc), results will be used in future map reworks and mapmaking
- Storm states that cca 10-15 percent of all players use some mods, the most popular mod is XVM

Clanwars designer interview

Source: wot-news.com

Hello everyone,

a player with nickname Aces managed to catch a WG CW developer in some café in Minsk and asked a few questions. I won’t translate the whole thing literally, but following pieces of info can be gleaned from it:

- the CW dev team was recently made bigger
- currently, they are working on several projects of various sizes, but the closest one is the second campaign
- Second campaign will have some significant changes from the first and it will come very soon
- furthermore, in October several CW features will come, they are practically ready:

1) Misdirection (Diversion, Sabotage) function – it works the same way as espionage/counterespionage (SS: or possibly “recoinnaissance” sorry, I don’t know the proper CW terms), it includes several tasks the saboteur can perform, like blocking some frontiers for the enemy or inciting rebellions
2) Portal recruiting center, where officers and recruiters will be able to sort candidates based on main statistical indicators and players will be able to leave their notes on what they look in a clan
3) The option to change clan name and tag
4) Clan gold transfer log

- “alternative CW content” is also being developed (no details)
- full rework of clan interface will come
- new clan rating will be implemented

2.10.2013

- next CW update will apparently bring gold transactions log for clans
- according to Tanitha (SEA server), there will be a transfer possibility to SEA in the future
- the Chinese Type 34 with 57mm gun is not the Soviet T-34/57 exported to China, the Chinese mounted the gun themselves
- maps bigger than 1000x1000m are not made, because “a) it needs client optimization so that the majority of players could play them b) it needs somewhat different gameplay”
- Standard (old) graphic will not be removed in 0.9.0 (SS: some guy feared they would be removed, Storm stated he doesn’t know of any such plans)
- Storm confirms that the “arty HE shell kills no more than half or 3/5 of your crew” rule applies only when the shell doesn’t penetrate
- Jagdmaus is not planned for now

Possible EU tier 2 premium: Š-I-SPO

Hello everyone,

today, we are going to have a look at one vehicle, that could fit as a tier 2 premium tank.

spo

History:

Much of the history of the Š-I series has already been written about in the previous article. Basically, it in the early 30′s, the tankettes were the “flavour of the year” and most armies dabbled in them one way or another. Czechoslovakia produced whole bunch of tankette designs, the most important of them being the P-I (also known as Tančík vz.33) and Š-I platform, on which the Š-I-d, Š-I-D and Š-I-j projects were built. The Š-I-D was then sold to Yugoslavia and served there under the designation of T-32, participating even in the war against Germans early on. That was in 1936-1937.
