WoT RU 4th Anniversary Video

Hello everyone,

as I mentioned in the previous post, WoT is celebrating 4th anniversary. WG RU produced a video about the event, unfortunately only in Russian. There are some interesting tidbits of info however.

Inside the video:

- players of more than 120 countries in the world play WoT
- currently, developers are reworking the display (render) of terrain and vegetation
- at cca 1:14, Havok is demonstrated
- tanks turning over on roof will be implemented
- more maps based on historical places (like Kharkov) will be added

After that it’s bragging about prizes recieved, mention of cybersports (Warsaw finals) and the “Pomnim vsyo” project, where WG RU supports (Russian) history initiatives, (Russian) veterans, museums. And then there’s SerB saying “thank you to players”. Overall, a nice video.

World of Tanks RU 4 Year Anniversary

Hello everyone,

yesterday, WG RU server celebrated 4th anniversary of its existence (WoT RU was – as the first server – started on 12.8.2010). In order to celebrate it, WG released some interesting info about WoT – mostly statistics. It says:

- RU cluster online record took place on 19.1.2014, 20:03 (Moscow time): 1.114.222 players on all RU servers online at the same time
- between 2011 and 2014, the amount of maps increased from 21 to 44
- the total area of all maps in game is 40 km2
- current number of vehicles in the game is 350 (compared to 136 in 2011)
- there are more than 110 million tanks in player garages
- most played classes on RU server: HT 31 percent, MT 22 percent, TD 20 percent, LT 16 percent, Arty 11 percent
- most played nations are Germany and Russia, least played is Japan by far
- on RU server the most popular tanks are KV-1, KV-1S, T-34/85
- the rarest medals on RU server (in order of rarity?) are: Raisenai medal, Tarczay medal, Burda medal, Nicols medal, Tamada Yoshio medal
- since the beginning, 34 billion tanks were destroyed in battles and 400 billion shells were fired
- since the beginning, 33 trillion points of damage were caused
- players spent 400 thousand years of time in battles in total, 1,6 billion battles were played

Warning, big picture under the line…

Missing Q&A (9.8. – 13.8.)

A summary of everything I missed in last few days. Apparently, one of the WoWp developers left the Persha studio in Kiev. I asked around and from what I could gather, Wargaming (despite constant claims of the opposite) pretty much stopped considering WoWp as a successful/perspective project (to put it mildly).

Also, if you are wondering where are not exactly tons of QA – Storm is on vacation. Enjoy!

- new visibility (viewrange) system is being worked on
- Stalingrad map will be “really nice”, won’t come in 9.3
- Stalingrad will come earlier than within half a year
- WG thinks that the most active Stronghold mode will be the tier 6 battles
- air raid will come in WoT (SS: Stronghold consumable)
- apparently, thinking of having a PvE mode with a “boss” in Maus for example that would require some player skill would be “serious AI overestimation”
- according to player feedback, Kharkov is the most popular map in World of Tanks

(skipped the idiotic “25 percent RNG will not be reduced” etc. stuff)

Swedish Tanks – Part XVI: The S-Tank (1956-1961)

Author: sp15 (US server)

The list of previous parts is at the bottom of the article.

You have probably heard of the S-tank, a Swedish turretless tank, designed to stop the tide of Soviet armor during the coldest days of the Cold War. But I’m willing to bet that most of you have no idea how the unconventional design came to be and that is what I’m going to try to explain in a two part special of the Swedish tanks series. Part one will be dedicated to how the design was chosen and its development between 1956 and 1961. Part two will cover the testing of the prototypes and preproduction models as well as the production version and how it could be implemented in World of Tanks.

8.8.2014

- Havok will come in 9.4 or 9.5
- new tank motion physics might come in 9.3
- tank balancing is made by 10 people (plus helpers), graphics are worked on by 3 people, model making is outsourced, moderators and support staff – 3000 people
- map Stalingrad is already created with Havok in mind (will not come in 9.3)
- Stalingrad is made by the same people as Havok
- El Halluf 9.2 changes might be cancelled? “We will keep an eye on statistics” (including heat analysis)
- in Havok, spotting after the new wall destruction will work the same way as it did until now
- in Havok the mosque in El Halluf will remain indestructible

Upcoming HD Models

From Amway921′s “visit to Wargaming” video. These are apparently – according to VK Leaks community – the HD models that are being worked on right now. The ISU-152 is clear, the rest… not so much.
