Hall of Shame is back

Hello everyone,

today, we have to new “inductees” into the Hall of Shame, that took the rage to another level.

First is Cantak – apparently, he has some deeply buried strange sexual desires, since he feels like it’s appropriate to threaten someone’s mother with rape… ugh.

Again, not much info today.

- Q: “Severogorsk is tiny and should drop only for lowtier tanks” A: “Your opinion is very important to us” (SS: eg. it won’t be changed)
- Swedish Rikstanken (based on the L-120) apparently won’t be implemented, as it is armed with a 7,92mm machinegun (SerB: “And who do you want to knock out with such a caliber?”) (SS: the fact something is equipped with a 7,92mm MG does NOT mean it can be implemented, regular 7,92mm AP shells have less than 10mm of penetrating power, the Panzer I Ausf.C gun is very, very specific in this)
- if you start teamdamaging SerB in random battle, you will get a temporary ban
- SerB on alleged leak of T57 HT nerf: “We don’t comment leaks” (SS: there is news about a possible T57 nerf, I confirmed it with WG RU, T57 won’t be touched for now, so it’s just a hoax)
- if you sell the Superpershing for gold, there will be no compensation for gold camo or inscriptions
- on Live Oaks map (and some others), there are some very tricky steep shores, if you drive on them, you will slide into water without the possibility to do anything. This won’t be changed.
- official XP formula won’t be disclosed

Stalin’s Balls of Steel

Source: Yuri Pasholok’s blog
Original author: Yuri Pasholok

Hello everyone,

today, we’re going to have a look at one of the craziest Soviet Union ideas of WW2: the ball tanks. I sort of “borrowed” the name of this article from Yuri Pasholok, who writes a book of the same name on these strange vehicles. Some of you might remember the 1st of April, when a “ball tank” branch appeared as a part of the Soviet tree – well, the branch was a joke, but the projects were actually seriously made. This is one of the biggest of them all, the “Protivotank” (“Counter-Tank”).

Panzer Questions

As my usual style of technical article sometimes turns too time consuming to read for some, I’ve decided to try a new format.
This time, I will collect any kind of technical question about german tanks and answer in the next article in order to provide proper feedback.

Some simple pointers:

- All questions should be sent to zarax999@gmail.com
- I will answer only on technical data abut german tank projects as battlefield performance and reports are not my field and tends to cause controversy
- I will try my best to provide an accurate source to all my answers so if you’re interested you can get books yourself
- I have a job and my free time is not unlimited, I will try my best to answer everything but some material requires a lot more searching than it appears.

Looking forward to your questions!

8.8 test to start on Thursday

Hello everyone

related to the Chinese server info from the last post:

8.8 test server is supposed to start on 22.8.2013 (eg. on Thursday).

Two rounds of test are planned for now (22.8. and 29.8.)

The 8.8 is to go live on Russian server either on 8.9. or 9.9., on EU/NA/SEA it’s supposed to be between 10.9. and 12.9., for Korea it’s 17.9. – how much is this info reliable, I don’t know. But the test start is like 80 percent sure.

Chinese 8.8

Hello everyone,

an interesting file found its way to me. The source is legitimate, but asked me not to reveal any identity. Basically, as you know, World of Tanks has a Chinese server too. This server, however, is not managed by Wargaming, but by a Chinese partner, called Kong Zhang Wang. Amongst other things, while Wargaming provides all the content, KZW also decides, what goes in which patch apparently.

Closed SU-76M compartment

Source: Yuri Pasholok’s blog

Here are the pictures of an experimental modernized SU-76M variant with closed combat compartment by Plant No.40. This vehicle was planned to replace the SU-76M open topped variant, but experiments showed, that the performance was not as expected and in the end, the project was scrapped in favour of a modified open-topped design with higher rear plate.

Not much today…

- Q: “Please make the ignore list able to accomodate 100 thousand names, because only retards play this game” A: “You mean those, who can’t read the rules of this thread?” (SS: whining is forbidden in the Q&A thread)
- Iwakuro tank is considered in the Japanese heavy tree
- SerB doesn’t want to fill the gap between lowtier and mid-tier Japanese heavies with medium tanks, he states that the branch has to have internal cohesion, as in – the vehicles that logically follow one another
- SerB states that WoT made him more rich than he was before WoT, but he won’t tell how much
- more T110 models in game? “Unfortunately, we haven’t found anything appart from Hunnicutt” (SS: Hunnicutt is the foremost authority on US tanks, something like Doyle/Spielberger on Germans)
- SerB hopes that they will soon be able to check the archives for classified projects from 40′s and 50′s with the help of Russian ministry of defense.

Two ISU-130 vehicles

Hello everyone,

today, we’re going to have a look at two vehicles, that share the same designation: ISU-130. One of them is however highly suspicious. First, the historical one:

ISU-130 (Object 250)

This is probably the “real” ISU-130 it is perfectly suitable to be a World of Tanks premium Soviet tank destroyer.
