Send me questions to tankarchives@gmail.com, and I will answer them! Previous set of answers is here.
Q: What Soviet 152 mm gun tank destroyers were there that aren’t in World of Tanks?
A: The SU-D15 (SU-85 with 152 mm D-15 howitzer) and ZIK-20 (KV-1 chassis with a 152 mm howitzer, later the 152 mm Br-2 gun). Of course, there may be many more lurking in the archives.
as the SEA players probably remember, there was a huge affair lately with the SEA competition rigging, gathering enormous amount of rage.
Well, WG responded – the investigation is running and the culprit’s replay was submitted for scrutiny.
Strangely enough, while the culprits have been caught and the whole MP “gang” gets a 7 day ban, they will not (unlike on US server) be banned from further WG events. That’s weird – remember KingAlphyn? He actually was banned from any future events.
Anyway, apparently there is an automated anti-cheat system now in place. Let’s hope it doesn’t repeat itself.
- Q: “Why does T-44-85 have such a low penetration?” A: “So you don’t play it”
- Q: “When the Allies captured the entire German archives, was there ever a case when the Allies had a look at the German solutions and were like ‘that’s genius, we’ll do that too’?” A: “Yea, the entire French branch.” (later SerB states that practically all post-war French tanks are based on German drawings)
Just a quick update guys, since a few of you wrote me PM’s, why I didn’t reply:
As you can see, BigBadVuk strikes again. Got a 7 day hard ban (not just RO) on EU forums for posting in this thread – you can see what BBV wrote there and my reply was one single picture:

SerB is inappropriate :D There’s a reason we all love BBV :) Nah, not really, I think he’s an idiot. Anyway, I didn’t manage to reply a few PM’s, will do when the ban is over.
Czech: Také to znamená, že 7 dní nebudu na foru nic překládat, protože jsem líný si dělat další alt. Možná budu překládat i tady na FTR česky, uvidíme.
“I got 99 problems and the portal quality sure is one”
Hello everyone,
I actually thought for quite some time whether to make a post on it or not, but it’s pretty much a widely recognized problem. Let’s start with a bit of a background.
Lots of you fine folks reading FTR have probably asked yourself at one point: “Why does a random guy do this, when WG could simply hire an employee to do the translations of developer staff, post more historical articles and such?”
Disclaimer: I am posting this because I think it’s a worthy cause and that David “Lister” Listy is a good blogger and author. If you are not interested in paper books, feel free to skip this article.
Hello everyone,
remember that poll on the right side, asking whether you’d be interested in a historical book, describing one WoT nation at a time? Well, what I did not tell you is, that the book author would be Listy.
the article spam about the 8.9 patch is kinda over. For your comfort, I’ll just add one more quick summary, so you don’t have to look for it all over the place:
Well, a couple of Russian guys met SerB in person on a conference at Nizhny Novgorod and asked him a bunch of questions, there’s a photo in the post linked above. Some info gleaned from SerB:
- in 0.9.0 there will be more graphic improvements and possibly Japanese branch, 0.9.0 will come around New Year
- the amount of polygons on tank will be increased three times (10 thousand to 30 thousand), some vehicles will have even 50 thousand, this graphics improvement will come in 2014
Don’t forget to check Listy’s new article on Yom Kippu War
Oh ye, one more thing, if you vote for Golden Joystick (no matter who for), you’ll be able to pick a free game (Mafia II or Civilization V) via Steam I think.
- SerB on War Thunder tank trees, when asked, whether he considers them to be epic fail: “Well, I won’t comment on ‘epic fail’, it’s more like different approaches to making branches”
- SerB on T-35 (multi-turret Soviet tank): “I don’t know what is it good for, apart from having it in your garage. It’s the same as in real life – it served only for show”, when asked what’s the big difference from TOGII, he replied “the gun”
- Q: “Why didn’t you add T-34/100 in the game?” A:”Because we decided to add other tanks.”
- Q: “You added a TD that can kill almost any tank with one autoloader clip, what’s then point of that?” A: “The point of that is to add a TD that can kill almost any tank with one autoloader clip.”
Well, that’s it for today, I guess SerB is not happy:
in part 1 and part 2, I did put down my opinion on the new German branch. Now it’s time for the last part, featuring premium tanks.
Chi-Nu Kai
So, the time has finally come: the Japanese tanks are here with their first pre-tree medium, the Chi-Nu Kai (a Chi-Nu with Chi-To turret and gun). It’s a tier 5 premium vehicle though.
