In 1952, the development of the next Swedish tank was well underway – despite the fact the work started as early as in 1951, it was only now when it really picked up the pace. In 1952, the project was reworked from a set of basic requirements and schematics into a functional design. More outlandish ideas were scrapped in favor of technologies, that had already been prototyped or tested and several new ideas were being tested as well. As an example, the suspension was changed to a hydraulic one, based on the Lvkv 42 prototype self-propelled anti-aircraft gun and work started on a prototype gun on the basis of the old 15cm Haub m/39 howitzer.

Movie Trailer on Wargaming Channel

Hello everyone,

this movie trailer appeared on English Wargaming channel, with the following commentary:

Tankers! Saints and Soldiers: The Void (http://wotcode.com/ssfb) is the third installment in the eponymous franchise, and the first that focuses on tanks. The film follows a cat and mouse chase between two M18 Hellcat crews and three Panzer III’s through the Harz Mountains of Germany at the end of WWII. We’ll be bringing you behind the scenes footage featuring The Chieftain over the coming weeks. For now, head over to the World of Tanks Facebook page (http://wotcode.com/wgvfb) to enter to win a free film t-shirt! The film opens in select theaters August 15, with an expanded NA theatrical release Aug 29.

After seeing the trailer, it’s obvious that this movie is not about tanks or war, but about racism, so thanks, I’ll just wait for Fury.

The M.11/39 – ‘Not the Worst tank of the War’

Author: Vollketten

Okay so the title is a little tongue in cheek, because the tank is regarded as being rather mediocre, but there were worse tanks, maybe not by much but there were. Either way, it’s an important tank for Italy both historically in terms of combat and in terms of technical development. No future branch of Italian medium tanks is going to be able to do without the M.11/39, as it will be required for historic battles, so we need to take a look at this rather maligned vehicle. It’s also a nice followup from the last tank of Italy we looked at in the ‘William Foster’s Italian Tank’ article here.

World of Tanks in WatchMojo Top 10 F2P List

Thanks to David Solomon for this one.

Hello everyone,

you probably know the WatchMojo Youtube channel, known for its top 10 lists of various things concerning movies and games. On 12.7.2014, a list came out with top 10 free to play games and World of Tanks is in it! On sixth spot that is. The list is as follows:

10 – Smite
9 – Hawken
8 – Tribes Ascent
7 – Path of Exile
6 – World of Tanks
5 – Dota 2
4 – Planetside 2
3 – Star Wars TOR
2 – Team Fortress 2
1 – League of Legends

Personally, I’d rate WoT higher and it also seems the author used some old footage. You can watch it here:

Meanwhile in Germany…

Thanks to Opferlamm113 for this one :) Celebrating World Cup victory with tanks? Why not…

14.7.2014

Hello everyone,

definitely check out Chieftain’s article on the movie Fury, well worth reading. Also, you can check out Listy’s article on 3.7in British tank mortar.

- the T-62A SPORT experience, after the football mode ends, will be transferred to MS-1
- US premium TD M56 Scorpion is planned for this year
- no new info whether the Aufklärungspanzer Panther is going to be replaced by something else
- FV215b and FV4202 to be replaced? Tanitha: “The FV215b and FV4202 are up for work late in 2014 or early 2015. It really is too early for any information though.” (SS: my guess – FV4202 -> Vickers MBT, FV215b -> Chieftain P6)
- regarding ASIA to US account transfers and roaming: “No not at this stage, bulk transfers are unlikely. Server roaming is still a feature that may be available at a later stage but not in the short future. The most likely feature to help out here is a paid transfer service, there is no schedule for its development though, but its still the most likely feature possible for you in the future.”

Storm – Test 9.2 Feedback

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/299430.html

Hello everyone,

Storm is asking for 9.2 feedback. And as always, he answered some questions in the discussion. Here’s what he said:

- the BL-10 gun will not be rebalanced (nerfed)
- according to patchnotes, the VK4502P Ausf.B should have thicker roof (60mm instead of 40mm) in 9.2, but on the test it doesn’t, this will be fixed
- why was the 183mm HESH ammo nerfed to 230mm pen: “230mm doesn’t penetrate frontal armor of 120mm with 60 degree slope, which is one of the most common armors used”
- vehicles (including FV215b 183) are balanced around their credit ammo
- football mode will not be left in the game permanently apparently
- there are no historical data for the VK4502 Ausf.B, only historical proposals (SS: including the characteristics of the German “paper” guns, so it’s pointless to complain that they are “not historical”)
- the Umbra 3 technology middleware is not yet implemented, the devs are still in the process of implementing it
- the “confrontation” mode is apparently still scheduled for return “after we fix the matchmaking”, this fix will include hardcaps on one type of tank per team (SS: as in, it won’t be possible to have for example 15 WT E-100, but only – just an example – three at max)

And what is your take on patch 9.2?

0.9.2 Map Changes

Thanks to Locastan for this one (he took the pictures)

Most of this stuff was already leaked before the patch ever came live.

So, the changes between Prokhorovka and Arc of Fire (or however is the map called)

As you can see, the hill really was changed a bit (as I wrote earlier) – it’s not necesserily lower, but the slope towards it is a bit different.

Wargaming Public API – Part 1

Source: http://habrahabr.ru/company/wargaming/blog/229475/

Hello everyone,

today, we are going to have a look at an article, published on the Wargaming blog, about the public API system. Now, I am not a programmer, so excuse me if something gets mistranslated – I think it’s interesting for quite a few folks (especially some modders and web programmers) so it would be a shame not to attempt to translate it, but if I make a mistake somewhere, feel free to correct me. Here goes.

Wargaming.net Public API is a set of public programmer interfaces, providing access to Wargaming projects, including the game content, player statistics, data from encyclopedias and many other things. In this article, we will talk about the background of the API, how the interaction of our internal components looks and about how the API is built and how it works and a bit about the developer contest we are planning to do in the near future.
